Instagram for Web Getting a Redesign With Better Navigation, Improved Interface

Instagram is introducing a revamped version of its web platform, featuring a navigation sidebar with links to various pages such as explore, search, and messages, among others. Previously, these tabs were represented as unlabeled buttons at the top. This redesign is being implemented gradually and is not available to all users at this time. Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, confirmed that there won’t be a dedicated iPad app for the social media platform.

The redesigned Instagram for Web, initially discovered by The Verge, offers enhanced button information and provides convenient access to settings and saved posts. The user interface is noticeably faster, making it easier to switch between accounts and enhancing the overall video-watching and navigation experience. Direct messages (DMs) have also become more immersive.

Regarding this redesign, Meta spokesperson Christine Pai informed The Verge, “We are continuously working to enhance the Instagram.com web experience. We recently made updates to modernize Instagram.com, which includes improving navigation, optimizing video playback, and introducing a more immersive DM experience.”

In a recent report, it was revealed that Meta’s Instagram now boasts 2 billion monthly active users globally, closing in on the 2.96 billion users of Facebook. This shift underscores the evolving landscape of the social media giant. Meta disclosed this information during a challenging earnings report in October, marked by an uncertain advertising market that affected its projections and stock performance. The report also indicated that over 2 billion people use its messaging app, WhatsApp, daily. In total, Meta’s family of apps reaches 3.71 billion monthly users worldwide.
